Shaheed Bhai Vakeel Singh Bullet

Bhai Vakeel Singh alias Bullet was born on 15th August 1971, in the house of Sardar Baldev Singh and from the blessed womb of Mata Iqbal Kaur in village Kohar Singh Wala, district Ferozepur. Bhai Bullet had 4 brothers, Bhai Harjinder Singh (Shaheed), Bhai Jaswinder Singh, Bhai Sahibjit Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh and 2 sisters, Bibi Nirmal Kaur, Bibi Sukhwinder Kaur. Bhai Bullet studied upto 10th class after which he started a Motor Repair shop in Zira. On many occasions the police arrested Bhai Bullet for providing support to the local Jhujaru Singhs. Bhai Bullet endured a lot of torture during these times and had lost the willingness to return to running his repair shop. Despite being a simple and quiet person, Bhai Sahib could not tolerate the injustices happening against the Sikhs and swore to dedicate and sacrifice his life in order to keep the pride and respect of the Sikh nation.

 

Bhai Vakeel Singh was 18 years old when he had joined the Jhujaru Singhs in the freedom struggle, and left home on 22nd August 1989. Bhai Vakeel Singh had met with Bhai Hardeep Singh Deepa of village Chajjalwaddi, and committed to a lifestyle of a saint soldier. Bhai Sahib became very active with Bhai Hardeep Singh Deepa and completed many Jhujaru actions for the Sikh nation. For some reason Bhai Bullet had parted ways with Bhai Hardeep Singh Deepa but was still active with the rest of the Jhujaru group which included, Bhai Sukhchain Singh Sukhewala, Bhai Avtar Singh Tari (village Lehra Rohi, Zira) and Bhai Daljit Singh Pyara (village Mansoorwala).

 

Bhai Bullet was known to be true to his word and actions, he would urge his group to be the same. Bhai Bullet’s main goal was to fight against the tyrant Indian government and would never kill any innocent Hindu or anyone for personal enmity. Bhai Bullet was someone who had clear intentions, and fought against the tyrant government like a lion, with immense love for the Sikh nation, and thousands of people had great amount of love and respect for him. Bhai Bullet was moving around like a lion while carrying out Jhujaru actions, and because of this bravery and courage he was made the Area Commander of Khalistan Commando Force.

 

On 5th May 1990, Bhai Bullet was involved in a fierce battle with Indian security forces in village Tehal Singh Wala. Bhai Bullet put up a great fight against the unjust security forces and was able to escape alongside Bhai Sukhchain Singh, however in this fight Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma Amli attained Shaheedi (Martyrdom). On 20th May 1990, Bhai Bullet was staying at a house in village Killi and the family of the home had informed the local police of his location. On this day, Bhai Bullet along with his fellow Jhujaru Singhs were surrounded immediately. When Bhai Bullet realised the presence of the Indian security forces, he ordered his group to take up arms and start the battle. A fierce battle took place between the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and the paid soldiers of Indian government, which lasted almost 7 hours. In the end, when all the ammunition of the Singhs had finished they decided to give their martyrdom by taking capsules of cyanide. This was done to avoid being caught alive and facing brutal torture at the hands of the tyrant.
