A brave warrior of Khalistan Armed Force, Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi was born on 15th August 1964, in the house of Giani Bela Singh and from the blessed womb of Mata Kushalaya Kaur in the village of Tuggalwal, near Harchowal, in the district of Gurdaspur. Bhai Sahib had two brothers, Bhai Kulwant Singh, Bhai Surinder Singh and two sisters, Bibi Sukhjit Kaur, Bibi Gurwinder Kaur. He completed his studies up to graduation. From childhood, Bhai Ravinder Singh was inclined towards Sikhi and wanted to do something for the Sikh nation and Punjab. Bhai Ravinder Singh’s Anand Karaj was done with Bibi Kanwalpreet Kaur (resident of village Mehsampur, district Sri Amritsar), daughter of Giani Amar Singh and two children Punarbir Kaur and Parasbir Singh were born in the house.

 

When Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale started the Dharam Yudh Morcha, Bhai Sahib also gave his voluntary arrest many times and became very active in the Sikh struggle for rights. Bhai Sahib would often met Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa, listened to his speeches and obeyed every order with devotion. In the murder case of the Lala Jagat Narain, when Sant Bhindranwale gave his arrest from the headquarter of Damdami Taksal, Chownk Mehta on 20th September 1981, Bhai Sahib was present there at that time. After the arrest of Sant Ji, the police fired and 18 Singhs were martyred, Bhai Sahib clashed with the police that day and chased the police away with sticks.

 

In June 1984, like other Sikhs, Bhai Sahib’s heart was also shaken due to the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib by the Hindu government. Bhai Sahib along with a Jhujaru Singh from the same village, Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma alias Baba Nand, started secret Jhujaru operations. On 8th June 1984, Bhai Sahib along with Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma punished a Brahmin named Sundari of Bharath village who used to speak ill against Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale and he celebrated the attack on Sri Akaal Takht Sahib by distributing sweets on the afternoon of 7th June. On 9th July 1984, the police arrested Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi and the period of torture started. Bhai Sahib remained in jail for 18 months. After being bailed out, Bhai Sahib had just started his new job in the Forest Department, when the Surjit Barnala government was dissolved and Bhai Sahib were dismissed from the job.

 

On the same day as Bhai Sahib’s Anand Karaj, a government bank in Hoshiarpur was robbed by Jhujaru Singhs. The police raided Bhai Sahib’s house but he managed to escaped by jumping over the back wall of his house. Then, after three days, Bhai Sahib was presented to the Hoshiarpur police by the local residents. The police filed 5 cases against him, including the bank robbery case and sent Bhai Sahib to jail, from where he was released after 6 months. At the same time, the police charged Bhai Sahib under the NSA Act and sent him to Nabha Jail, from there he was sent to Patiala Jail and then after 14 months, Bhai Sahib was released from Amritsar Jail. After this, Bhai Sahib continued to be in contact with the Jhujaru Singhs. Lieutenant General, Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma alias Baba Nand (Tuggalwal) of the Khalistan Liberation Army and Bhai Sahib both continued to serve the Sikh nation together.

 

On 6th March 1989, Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi and Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma were arrested again. At that time, Bhai Sahib and Bhai Pamma were coming back to the village from Panihar Sugar Mill on his Bajaj-Chetak scooter, when the police arrested him at the Sathiali bridge checkpoint. The hair of both Singhs were tied to the back of the police jeep and they were dragged badly. After seven days of torture, the Singhs were brought to Sadar Thana Gurdaspur and Bhai Paramjit Singh was shot in the leg. The police were about to stage a false encounter of both Singhs, but they were saved due to political links of the family. Bhai Sahib was then sent to Gurdaspur Jail where he was kept in custody for 6 months and then brought to Nabha, Patiala and then Amritsar where he was released after one and a half years. When Bhai Sahib in jail, the police inflicted tyrannical atrocities on the family behind. His father and brothers were arrested and tortured. The evil policemen treated Bhai Sahib’s mother and wife very badly also. The police of Qadian and Sri Hargobindpur police stations held great enmity against Bhai Sahib’s family.

 

One day, Bhai Sahib had to go to Kathunangal to meet someone. Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi and his wife, Bibi Kanwalpreet Kaur, who travelled together from Tuggalwal to Batala and stayed at the house of Bhai Laddi’s sister, Bibi Sukhjit Kaur in Batala. When Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi left for Kathunangal in the morning the next day, the police arrested him on the way and severely tortured him and on 13th July 1991, police martyred Bhai Sahib in a fake encounter in the Bakkar Mandi of Batala. Shaheed Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi of Tuggalwal was declared unidentified in the newspapers and two other Singhs were also martyred along with him. Another Jhujaru Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh Dhapai conveyed a message to the family that the police had martyred Bhai Ravinder Singh Laddi.
