Shaheed Bhai Ranjit Singh Chhina

Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan 

 

Bhai Ranjit Singh Chhina alias Billa was born in 1965 in the village Harsa Chhina in the Tehsil Ajnala of Sri Amritsar district, in the house of Sardar Dharam Singh and from the fortunate womb of Mata Harbans Kaur. Bhai Billa was the eldest of five siblings. Two younger brothers, Bhai Daljit Singh, Bhai Baldev Singh and two sisters, Bibi Manjit Kaur and Bibi Manjinder Kaur. He received his 5th grade education from the government school in the village and then started farming with his father. Inspired by the divine personality of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, he took Amrit from the Jatha of Damdami Taksal and became a devout Sikh. Bhai Billa often went to Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar to listen to the sermons of Sant Ji and participated in the Dharma Yudh Morcha also by giving his voluntary arrest on many occasions. 

 

When in June 1984, the Indian government attacked Sri Darbar Sahib with its military force and demolished Sri Akaal Takht Sahib with tanks and cannons, as soon as Sikhs of Chhina village heard the news of this attack taking place, many Singhs and Singhnia gathered and started marching towards Sri Darbar Sahib to protect it against the Indian army. Bhai Billa was amongst this Sikh congregation of Chhina who tied a shroud on their heads, ready to lay their lives for Sri Darbar Sahib. 

 

As they travelled towards Sri Darbar Sahib, they were stopped by CRPF and BSF soldiers near the canal bridge of Kamboj village. Without any warning, the Indian soldiers opened fire in an attempt to scare the Sikh congregation to return to their homes. But 3 bullets hot Bhai Ranjit Singh’s chest, who attained martyrdom on the spot. He attained martyrdom as he marched towards Sri Darbar Sahib, meditating on Waheguru. Other Sikhs in the congregation were also martyred, and many more were seriously injured.
