Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala

Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan

Amar Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh alias Kala, a Jhujaru Singh of Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan, who sacrificed himself for the freedom of Khalistan, was born in 1965 at Mohalla Madangir (Gobindpuri), New Delhi. He was born in the house of Sardar Swaran Singh Bal and from the blessed womb of Mata Mahinder Kaur. He was the eldest of five siblings. His three younger brothers are Bhai Surjit Singh Penta (Shaheed), Bhai Rajwinder Singh Raja (Shaheed), Bhai Harcharan Singh Giani and sister Bibi Sarabjit Kaur. Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala’s family was attached to the Sikh faith from the beginning. The family had immense devotion to the Gurdwara. Father Sardar Swaran Singh was a bus driver in Panja Sahib Tourist Company, New Delhi. Bhai Kala’s native village was Chhajjalwadi which is situated on the National Highway Road in the east direction from Amritsar (near Jandiala Guru and Tangra) but Sardar Swaran Singh came to New Delhi and settled. It was in New Delhi, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala and all other siblings were born. Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala had a mischievous nature from his childhood. When Bhai Sahib was 4-5 years old, his father admitted him into a local school, but Bhai Sahib could only study up to middle school and left his studies and started learning how to repair scooters. He left after learning the work of scooters and then learned driving from his father and started driving a bus. Bhai Sahib’s mind was very sharp. He also drove a car for some time and then started driving a permanent bus in International Transport Delhi.

At this time the Dharam Yudh Morcha was in full swing. While driving the bus, Bhai Sahib use to listen to the cassettes of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale’s speeches. In June 1984, Indira Gandhi attacked Sri Darbar Sahib and demolished Sri Akaal Takht Sahib with tanks and desecrated many other Sikh shrines. The Indian government played Holi by spilling the blood of the Sikhs in Punjab and after that the hearts of the courageous Sikhs started burning like a flame of fire, wanting revenge. This scandal also deeply hurt Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala’s heart and mind. He used to drive the bus, but his mind was always eager to die for the sake of the Sikh nation. It was still 5 months after the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib, when on 31st October 1984, the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, Bhai Satwant Singh and Bhai Beant Singh showed Indira Gandhi the way to hell by riddling her with bullets. After the death of Indira, her son Rajiv Gandhi became the heir to the throne of Delhi and he announced that wherever a Sikh appears, kill them, loot their homes and set their men on fire. The Hindu government continued to loot and set fire to the Sikhs in the major cities of India for many days. Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala saw the smoke rising from the burning houses of the Sikhs in the city of Delhi. Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala and Bhai Surjit Singh Painta along with some other Sikh youths did not allow the Hindu goons to enter their area, Gobindpuri. Gobindpuri is the only area in Delhi where the Sikhs did not suffer any loss of life and property because of these brave sons of the tenth Guru.

The news of Sikh massacres in Delhi and across India reached Punjab as well. To teach a lesson to the wicked government of India, many Sikhs joined the Sikh struggle for freedom. Among these Sikhs were, Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda (Gadli), Bhai Nirmal Singh Nimma (Gadli), Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha (Ganganagar), Bhai Mathra Singh, Bhai Baljinder Singh Raju (Ganganagar), Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Shindu to name a few who came to New Delhi to punish the killers of Sikhs and reached the house of Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala. It was from here that these heroes killed the main culprits of the Sikh massacre, Lalit Makkan and Arjan Das. The Jhujaru Singhs created a stir in the city of Delhi and its throne started shaking. Bhai Harinder Singh Jinda, Bhai Nirmal Singh Nimma were the maternal uncles of Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala. Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha was also considered a maternal uncle by relationship and Bhai Baljinder Singh Raju was the son of Bhai Kala’s Bhua Ji and was considered as a brother. The police arrested Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala’s parents, Sardar Swaran Singh Bal, Mata Mohinder Kaur, maternal uncle Bhai Ranjit Singh (Gadli) and grandfather, Sardar Darshan Singh Ji and locked them in Tihar Jail under the TADA Act. This entire family remained behind bars for four years. Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala came to Punjab with his younger brother, Bhai Surjit Singh Painta and came into contact with Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal and joined the Jhujaru group, Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan. His younger brothers, Bhai Harcharan Singh Giani, Bhai Rajwinder Singh Raja and sister, Bibi Sarabjit Kaur stayed at the house do their grandfather, Sardar Mohan Singh in village Chhajjalwadi, where the police inflicted a lot of havoc on those innocent children and finally, they too had to give up everything and join the Sikh struggle for freedom.

On the instructions of Bhai Swaranjit Singh Aladinpur, the right-hand man of Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal, one of the founding Sikhs of the struggle, and Lieutenant General of Bhindranwala’s Tigers Force, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala, Bhai Avtar Singh Patwari, Bhai Surjit Singh Gadli, and Bhai Surjit Singh Painta, armed themselves and headed towards Delhi. The Singhs left Delhi for Puranpur (Uttar Pardesh) after killing the military officer along with his side goons and four policemen. In Puranpur UP, the Singhs killed a so-called holy man and six soldiers who spewed poison against the Sikhs. After this, on the way to Punjab, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala and fellow Jhujaru Singhs were involved in a fierce encounter with the police of UP. The bullets of the Singhs became a death for 4 policemen of the Hindustani forces and rest ran away. After this incident, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala and Bhai Surjit Singh Painta along with their fellow Jhujaru Singhs reached Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and kept punishing the anti-Sikh elements.

  • Bhai Surjit Singh Panta, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala and Bhai Surjit Singh Gadli, assassinated an officer of the Beas Electricity Board along with his 3 accomplices, because they used to beat the poor farmers and harassed the them on a daily basis. Finally, fed up and persecuted by this, the farmers had come to the Jhujaru Singhs and told them their problems. The Singhs first warned the officer at the Electricity Board, but he did not stop. The Singhs had no choice but to make an example of him. Where the Jhujaru Singh assassinated the officer, there was a CRPF base nearby and upon hearing gunshots, the Indian security forces rushed to the scene getting into a battle with the 3 Jhujaru Singhs, who then filled the CRPF soldiers and escaped from the area.

  • Comrade Gurnam Uppal of village Uppal of Amritsar district was assassinated by Bhai Surjit Singh Painta and Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala. This comrade used to celebrate the June 1984 attack and used to speak abusively about the Sikh faith and Sikhs.

  • One day, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala and Bhai Surjit Singh Painta were resting at a hideout in Lopoke village (Taran Taran), when an informant went to the City Police Station of Tarn Taran and reported that both brothers were in village Lopoke today, then Inspector Sharma of the City Police Station came to Lopoke with police forces. Further, both the brothers also got ready after seeing the Indian security forces and as soon as Inspector Sharma came forward, the Singhs killed him with the first bullet. When Inspector Sharma died, there was a commotion within the police force, they ran backwards for their lives, meanwhile the Jhujaru brothers made their easy escape.

  • Similarly, the culprits of the Delhi Sikh massacre, among whom Sethi and Majal were the main ones, were roasted with bullets in a Delhi market in broad daylight by Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala.

Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala many enemies of the Sikh nation in Punjab and Delhi. Many black cats, police informers, traitors were punished according to Khalsa traditions. Bhai Sahib rendered great service in the Sikh struggle within a short period of time. Although Bhai Surjit Singh Penta was younger than Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala, but Bhai Paramjit Singh worked like a soldier under the leadership of his younger brother. After punishing many evildoers, Bhai Sahib turned his head once again out of Punjab and this time towards Bengal and Maharashtra. Bhai Paramjit Singh, in consultation with his younger brother, Bhai Surjit Singh Painta, decided to go Calcutta, the capital of West Bengal. Here the plan was to assassinate Punjab Governor, SS Ray. Both the Jhujaru brothers reached Calcutta along with other Jhujaru Singhs. SS Ray was a resident of Calcutta. The Jhujaru Singhs were looking for him for many days, but the governor escaped his death.

Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala shifted from Calcutta to Bombay (Maharashtra) to do a reconnaissance on Shiv Sena leader, Bal Thackeray. After staying in Bombay for a few days and no lead in surveillance, Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala went back to Calcutta via truck journey. On the way, Bhai Sahib stopped at a restaurant near Bhusawal in Maharashtra, here he had an argument with the restaurant owner. This restaurant owner, started shouting abuse in regards to Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, then Bhai Paramjit Singh beating the restaurant owner. At that time, the restaurant owner did not say anything, but when Bhai Sahib left there, the owner gave the tip of Bhai Paramjit Singh to the police of Maharashtra and the police forces started following Bhai Sahib.
