Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma attained martyrdom roughly a year after Shaheed Bhai Bakshish Singh’s martyrdom. Little is known about Bhai Paramjit Singh’s early life. Details such as his village of birth, his parents, and family background remain undocumented. What is known, however, is that he considered Shaheed Bhai Bakhshish Singh Kalyug and his family as his own. Bhai Bakhshish Singh’s mother embraced him like a son, and he regarded both Bhai Bakhshish Singh and Bhai Prem Singh as his brothers.

 

The information available about his life has largely been gathered through the family of Shaheed Bhai Bakshish Singh. Bhai Paramjit Singh lost his mother at a very young age, after which his father remarried. There is no record of any siblings. As a young adult, Bhai Paramjit Singh joined the armed struggle and served alongside the Jhujaru Singhs. He was arrested by the police and imprisoned in Sangrur Jail. During this time, no family member came to visit or inquire about him—he was completely alone. Later, Shaheed Bhai Bakshish Singh was transferred from Ghumtala Amritsar Jail to Sangrur Jail after being detained by Punjab Police. It was here that the two Jhujaru Singhs met and formed a close bond. Bhai Paramjit Singh expressed a deep desire to dedicate his life to the cause and pleaded with Bhai Bakshish Singh to help him escape the jail by any means necessary. Bhai Sahib yearned for martyrdom and wished to be blessed with Shaheedi.

 

Moved by his resolve, Bhai Bakshish Singh treated him like a true brother and did not hesitate to ask his family to support Bhai Paramjit Singh’s release. His mother, in an act of profound sacrifice, sold part of the family’s land to fund the legal efforts for both her son and Bhai Paramjit Singh’s release. After their release, Bhai Paramjit Singh stayed with Bhai Bakshish Singh at his family home in Jamalpur, district Amritsar. When the time came for him to bid his final farewell, he left knowing it would be the last time he would see the family.

 

A year after the martyrdom of Bhai Bakshish Singh Kalyug, while cycling through the village of Darewali near Jamalpur, Bhai Sahib was suddenly surrounded by police. An informant had disclosed his location. A gunfight ensued, and despite his bravery, Bhai Paramjit Singh was outnumbered and fell in battle, achieving martyrdom. Bibi Darshan Kaur, sister of Shaheed Bhai Bakhshish Singh and Shaheed Bhai Prem Singh, shared that Bhai Paramjit Singh Pamma was as much a brother to their family as her own siblings. His sacrifice is eternally honoured and remembered.
