Bhai Nirvair Singh Nandu was born in 1969, in the house of Sardar Jagir Singh and from the blessed womb of Mata Malkit Kaur in the village of Bhauwal, district Ropar. Bhai Nirvair Singh had an older brother, Shaheed Bhai Gurdeep Singh Gopi and a younger sister, Bibi Satwinder Kaur. Bhai Nirvair Singh studied upto 10th class at the local village school.
Bhai Nirvair Singh along with his older brother, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Gopi were whole heartedly supporting the Dharam Yudh Morcha which was started by Shiromani Akali Dal, under the guidance of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. Bhai Gurdeep Singh was also the All-India Sikh Student Federation branch president at his college.
After the attack of Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984, Bhai Nirvair Singh along with his brother, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Gopi joined the local Jhujaru Singhs on the battlefield against the Indian security forces to fight for the Sikh homeland. Bhai Nirvair Singh completed many Jhujaru actions and killed many anti-Sikh elements. Both, Bhai Nirvair Singh and his older brother, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Gopi had done many actions under the command of Bhai Charanjit Singh Channa, Bhai Balwinder Singh Jattana, Bhai Aagi Singh Kamalpura and Bhai Harmeet Singh Bhauwal.
Bhai Nirvair Singh and his wife were arrested in Panipat by the police force of Chandigarh. Bhai Nirvair Singh’s wife was later released on bail, but no one knew how Shaheed Bhai Nirvair Singh Nandu was made a Shaheed or when. Family believes their son attained martyrdom in the year of 1993.
Information given by the family of Shaheed Bhai Nirvair Singh Nandu
