Bhai Joginder Singh was born to the blessed parents, Mata Gurbachan Kaur and Sardar Para Singh, in the village of Khaparkheri, district Amritsar. He was one of seven siblings and completed his education up to the 8th grade before taking up employment in a factory. Following the tragic events of June 1984, the Battle of Amritsar, when the Indian Government deployed the army to attack the holiest shrine of the Sikhs, Sri Harmandir Sahib, Bhai Joginder Singh was overcome with profound grief. Daily life seemed meaningless in the face of such immense suffering inflicted upon his people and faith. His heart urged him to act for the sake of the Sikh nation.

 

Soon, he came into contact with a Jhujaru Singh from the Babbar Khalsa militia, Bhai Hardev Singh Jorh Singh Wala. Together, they began undertaking covert operations, including raids on numerous police stations in the region. These actions aimed to weaken police aggression and instil fear, ensuring they would think twice before targeting Jhujaru Singhs. During these raids, they also seized whatever ammunition and explosives they could. Later, Bhai Joginder Singh operated under the leadership of Bhai Jaswinder Singh Jaj Johal. Under this command, he successfully executed numerous missions and earned a reputation for possessing some of the finest firearms within the movement. He was also known for carrying out attacks on army posts in major cities, often using explosives to eliminate targets.

 

On 16th November 1991, in the village of Kotli, Gurdaspur, Bhai Joginder Singh was unexpectedly surrounded by police and CRPF forces. He was arrested and taken to the nearest police station, where he endured brutal torture. Ultimately, he breathed his last breath in their custody, attaining Shaheedi (martyrdom). His body was never returned to his family, and to this day, there is no trace of his remains or knowledge of how he was cremated. Bhai Joginder Singh was deeply respected within his organisation of Babbar Khalsa. His contribution remains unparalleled. Fearless, intelligent, loving, and unwaveringly devoted to his Guru and Guru Panth, he epitomised courage and sacrifice.
