Shaheed Bhai Jaswinder Singh Dhamaka

Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan 

 

Shaheed Bhai Jaswinder Singh Lucky alias Dhamaka was born in 1970 in the house of Sardar Darshan Singh and from the womb of Mata Ranjit Kaur in Sri Amritsar’s Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar. He studied up to 8th grade. His father was associated with the Naamdhari community and made a living by driving a rickshaw. As Bhai Jaswinder Singh grew up, in 1987-88, he met Bhai Surjit Singh Painta, Deputy Chief of Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan at Sri Darbar Sahib. He was so impressed by the views of the Jhujaru Singhs that he took Amrit and started taking part in the Jhujaru actions. 

 

Bhai Jaswinder Singh participated in many actions and when he did a bomb blast in Delhi, everyone in the Jhujaru ranks started calling him ‘Dhamaka’. When the police got wind of Bhai Dhamaka’s activities, they started harassing his family. One day, when he came home to visit his family, an informant from the neighbourhood informed the police. At night, the police raided and arrested Bhai Dhamaka from his house. Bhai Dhamaka was arrested and martyred in a staged police encounter on 16th July 1989. Prior to his martyrdom, Bhai Dhamaka has been tortured brutally before the police threw his dead body into the canal of Sultanwind. Then, after a few days, the police arrested Bhai Dhamaka’s younger brothers, Bhai Harjit Singh and Bhai Manjit Singh, whose whereabouts are still unknown.
