Shaheed Bhai Jaswant Singh Valtoha

 

Bhai Jaswant Singh Jassa was born in 1970 from the blessed womb of Mata Jagir Kaur and in the house of Sardar Dara Singh in the village of Valtoha (Patti Bajran Ki), Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran. Bhai Sahib had 1 brother, Bhai Hira Singh and two sisters, Bibi Lakhwinder Kaur, Bibi Rajbir Kaur.

 

Giving information to us, Bhai Sahib’s sister-in-law, Bibi Paramjit Kaur said that one day Bhai Jaswant Singh Jassa, Bhai Mukhtiar Singh Mukha (Valtoha) and Bhai Satpal Singh Valtoha, all three of Singhs went to village Ratta Khera (Malot) and stayed at Mukhtiar Singh’s aunt’s house at night. The previously martyred Jhujaru Singhs had kept weapons on some location and these 3 Singhs went in search of them, but the weapons could not be found. When the 3 Singhs started coming back Ratta Khera the next day, the police arrested them while boarding the bus and then on 23rd July 1991, the Singhs were martyred in a false police encounter near Kabarwala village (district Muktsar) and declared as dangerous terrorist.
