Shaheed Bhai Jageer Singh Madar

Bhai Jageer Singh alias Jageera Ghumiar was born in the house of Sardar Makhan Singh and from the womb of Mata Bhajan Kaur in the village Madar. From childhood, Bhai Sahib was rebellious. Bhai Sahib would tell the truth to peoples face and for this reason he had gotten into altercations with local villagers many times. Bhai Sahib was at the age of 12/14 years when he came in contact with the Singhs of Damdami Taksal and from here onwards he fell in love with Gurbani and started doing his Nitnem. Due to his attachment and dedication to the Sikh faith, Bhai Sahib became a Granthi Singh. Bhai Sahib knew 13 prayers by heart and this would be his daily Nitnem.

 

One day, Bhai Sahib was doing a Sri Akhand Paath Sahib Raul at a house, it is here he met a Jhujaru Singh, Bhai Sarwan Singh also from the Madar village. After this meeting, Bhai Sahib completed his Raul and left all worldly attachments behind and joined his Jhujaru brothers. After the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Sarwan Singh Madar, Bhai Sahib joined Jhujaru group of Bhai Ram Singh Maniala Jai Singh. Protecting he weak and the poor were Bhai Sahib personal mission, he very much disliked police officers who exploited vulnerabilities of people.

 

One day, Bhai Sahib was surrounded by Indian security forces as he rested at a house in the village Gohalwar, situated on the Amritsar Tarn Taran Road. As soon as Bhai Sahib realised, he quickly grabbed his assault rifle and fought his way out and escaped unharmed. Bhai Sahib also did many Jhujaru actions with Bhai Mohinder Singh Pioud, and served with the Jhujaru Singhs of Babbar Khalsa till his last breath.

 

In the end, an informant who was travelling with Bhai Sahib had given their location to the Punjab police. During this time the whole city of Patti had police station on every street. Like before Bhai Sahib tried to fight his way out of the surroundings and due to the 10 Lakh Rupees reward in his head, the informant was trying to find a way to lead Bhai Sahib into the trap of Punjab police and assist capture to gain the reward on Bhai Sahib’s head. Bhai Sahib stopped at a shop, and as he came out he was jumped upon by many police officers. Due to Bhai Sahib great strength, he fought much as he could being unarmed, but seeing no escape Bhai Sahib quickly swallowed a capsule of cyanide and give his martyrdom for the cause of Khalistan.
