Khalistan Commando Force

 

Bhai Harmandeep Singh Mintu alias Bhag Singh, a fearless warrior of Khalistan Commando Force (Zaffarwal), who always kept the achievement of the Panthic goal in mind without caring for his life. Bhai Sahib was born in 1968 in the village Khudai Chak, in the house of Sardar Amrik Singh and was attached to Sikhi from a very young age. The name of his mother was Mata Mukhtiar Kaur. Bhai Sahib had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He passed his primary education at a Primary School in Khudai Chak (Ludhiana) and passed his Metric from Government High School in Rauwal. He had a passion to serve the Sikh nation since childhood, due to which Bhai Sahib joined the movement inspired by the speeches of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. 

 

Bhai Harmandeep Singh alias Mintu alias Bhag Singh used to serve the Sikh nation by staying at home first. In June 1984, Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar was attacked by the Indian army which had a profound effect on his mind and he kept the desire to take revenge from the government and started searching for Jhujaru Singhs. In 1990, Bhai Sahib went underground and joined the likes of Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Painta, Bhai Jagga Singh Dakha, Bhai Sulakhan Singh Rauwal and became a close associate of the Deputy Chief of Khalistan Commando Force. Bhai Sahib did brave many Jhujaru actions, due to which he was given the rank of Khalistan Commando Force’s Lieutenant General of Patiala district. The police in the area were afraid of Bhai Sahib. Because of Bhai Sahib’s righteous thinking and protecting the poor and oppressed, he was highly respected by the locals. He used to take money from his household’s income and it to serve his Jhujaru organisation. Bhai Sahib had great love and respect for Bhai Kuldeep Singh Sheikhupura. Apart from other Jhujaru actions, on 16th May 1991, Bhai Sahib was involved in fierce encounter with the Indian security forces in the village of Hans Kalan, in which he was wounded. In this encounter, 6 of Bhai Sahib’s closest Jhujaru associates attained martyrdom. Even then, Bhai Sahib did not lose faith and remained steadfast in serving the Sikh freedom movement. 

 

While serving the Panth, the time came when a police informant had Bhai Sahib arrested from Ludhiana’s Miller Ganj. The police brutally tortured him but Bhai Sahib did not give up any information to the police. In the end, on 6th December 1991 the police martyred Bhai Harmandeep Singh Mintu in a false police encounter.
