Amar Shaheed Bhai Dilbagh Singh Bagga was born in 1974, in the house of father, Sardar Gujjar Singh and from the blessed womb Mata Kartar Kaur in village Bhilowal, police station Kathunangal, district Sri Amritsar. Bhai Sahib had 4 brothers and 2 sisters; he was the youngest of them all. Sardar Gujjar Singh was a farmer and provided for his family. While studying in the eighth grade, Bhai Sahib met the Jhujaru Singhs. So impressed by their high-quality life, Bhai Sahib left his studies and joined the Jhujaru Singhs in the struggle for independence. For some time, Bhai Sahib did actions secretly but when the police got the information of his involvement in the Sikh struggle and started raiding his house, Bhai Sahib left home and went underground. The police unleashed immense atrocities and torture on Bhai Sahib’s family members, especially his brother, Bhai Kulwant Singh, the police torture caused permanent damage to his body. 

 

At first, Bhai Sahib fought under the leadership of Bhai Ranjit Singh Tarsikka for a long time and then served in the Sikh struggle with Khalistan Armed Forces under the command of chief, Bhai Chanchal Singh Udhoke. Bhai Sahib continued to carry out top militant actions.


One day, Bhai Dilbagh Singh was going somewhere on a bicycle with his brother, Bhai Kulwant Singh when police and CRPF arrested Bhai Sahib from the canal between Bhilowal and Khujala. His brother, Bhai Kulwant Singh said that a tout from Mattewal village had given Bhai Sahib’s location to the police. After arresting both of them, the police took them to Kathunangal police station where they were severely tortured and then on 3rd August 1992, Bhai Dilbagh Singh was martyred in a false police encounter near Dhade village. His martyred body was not even given to the family.
