Bhai Dalbir Singh was born in 1967, in the house of Sardar Shiv Ram and from the womb of Mata Kuldeep Singh in the village of Bhauwal, district Ropar. Bhai Dalbir Singh was the eldest of 4 brothers, Shaheed Bhai Dalbir Singh Bittu, Shaheed Bhai Jaswinder Singh Kala, Bhai Harchand Singh, Bhai Jagtar Singh and 1 sister, Bibi Satwant Kaur. Bhai Dalbir Singh studied upto 9th class and after that started working in the healthcare industry. Bhai Dalbir Singh’s Anand Karaj was done with Bibi Jagdish Kaur, and it was 2 months after his martyrdom their daughter was born.

 

On 12th March 1992, Punjab police arrested Bhai Dalbir Singh Bittu and his father, Sardar Shiv Ram. The police kept Sardar Shiv Ram locked at the police station for 6 months, but Bhai Dalbir Singh was blindly tortured and made Shaheed in a fake encounter by the Punjab police. The family of Shaheed Bhai Dalbir Singh Bittu tried to legally take action against the police officers that were responsible for this martyrdom of their eldest son and brother, but no justice was served. The Punjab police harassed the family for many years after also, taking their belongings away from them.
