Shaheed Bhai Balvir Singh Lalpura 

Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan

 

History is witness that the brave Sikh community have made a huge contribution in every struggle of the Sikh nation. These heroes have also made great achievements in the armed struggle for the independence of Khalistan, they have faced the atrocities of the Indian government on their own backs and given unlimited sacrifices for the freedom of Khalistan. 

 

A brave Gursikh from village Lalpura of district Tarn Taran has also sacrificed his life for the Sikh nation. The name of this warrior was Bhai Balvir Singh alias Billu, born in 1970 to father, Sardar Dara Singh and mother, Mata Amar Kaur. Bhai Sahib had two elder brothers, Bhai Karam Singh, Bhai Swaran Singh and sister, Bibi Veer Kaur. There was a lot of poverty in the family, Sardar Dara Singh was a labourer. Bhai Sahib studied up to the 10th standard.

 

The famous Jhujaru Singhs of his village were Bhai Harbhej Singh Bheja alias Cyanide and Bhai Gurbhej Singh Lalpura. Due to Bhai Sahib’s association, he also jumped into the Khalistan struggle and joined the Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan organisation and started serving the nation. When Bhai Sahib was engaged in the struggle, his parents were brutally tortured by the Punjab police. Bibi Prakash Kaur, the wife of his brother Bhai Karam Singh, was also taken to the police station by the police. The police also confiscated the household goods. Meanwhile, Bhai Sahib continued to do Jhujaru actions and punish the cruel policemen.

 

The family has no information about when, where, how and under what circumstances Bhai Sahib was martyred while engaged in the armed struggle. The only thing the family knows is that two Jhujaru Singhs came to the family house one night in disguise and told them that Shaheed Bhai Balvir Singh Billi had been martyred in a police encounter, and that a Sri Akhand Path Sahib should be held in his memory. This is from 1991-92. The father tried hard to find Bhai Sahib but nothing could be found anywhere. 

 

Shaheed Bhai Balvir Singh’s parents and brother, Bhai Karam Singh have passed away, perhaps they would have known more about Bhai Sahib, but your sister-in-law, Bibi Prakash Kaur only has memories of Bhai Sahib or the sad stories of the police atrocities. The police did not even allow any picture of Shaheed Bhai Balvir Singh to remain in the house.
