Shaheed Bhai Avtar Singh Jota

Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan

 

Bhai Avtar Singh Jota, the immortal martyr of Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan, was born in 1964 in the house of his Sardar Malook Singh and from the blessed womb of Mata Kashmir Kaur in village Harsa Chhina, Patti Varnali, Tehsil Ajnala, District Sri Amritsar Sahib. The details of the five siblings are as follows: Bhai Angrej Singh, Bibi Narinder Kaur, Bhai Avtar Singh Jota (Shaheed), Bhai Resham Singh Chhina (Shaheed) and Bhai Mehal Singh. After studying till the eighth standard, Bhai Jota started farming with his father. He was a follower of Panthic thoughts since his childhood and was connected with Gurbani and Bana (Sikh attire).

 

In June 1984, the Indian government launched a military attack on Sri Darbar Sahib with tanks, artillery and demolished Sri Akaal Takht Sahib. After this deliberate massacre of Sikhi and Sikhs, Bhai Jota left home and joined the Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan in 1987, under the command of its General, Bhai Satnam Singh Chhina and started serving in the armed struggle of Khalistan’s freedom. While participating in the struggle, Bhai Jota picked out and punished many traitors and evil policemen, showing them the way to hell. Bhai Jota was also fought many battles against the Indian security forces, showing his bravery. 

 

The cruel police inflicted unimaginable torture on his family and his elder brother, Bhai Angrej Singh whose body was beaten and mutilated and now he remains bedridden for the rest of his life, but Bhai Jota did not waver and continued to fight for the sake of religion and nation with great skill.

 

While fighting in the Sikh struggle, one day Bhai Jota fell into the hands of the Punjab police and he was taken to the Mal Mandi slaughterhouse in Amritsar and the police subjected him to unspeakable and unbearable torture. Then, after filing several cases, Bhai Jota was sent to Gumtala (Amritsar) jail. When his mother, Mata Kashmir Kaur came to visit in jail, Bhai Jota said, “Mother! Don’t be afraid, such struggles always falls upon the Singhs. Pray for me that I receive the gift of martyrdom and not sway from the path of Sikhi.” Then, about three months later, in 1990, police officers took Bhai Avtar Singh Jota out of jail and martyred him in a fake police encounter.

 

When his younger brother, Bhai Resham Singh read the news that he had been taken out of jail by police officers who were greedy for medals and awards, Bhai Resham Singh Chhina immediately took up arms and also joined the ongoing struggle for the creation of Khalistan. He avenged the martyrdom of Bhai Avtar Singh Jota by killing many police officers and the evil Comrade, Babbu.
