Nobody Should Shed Tears Of Grief Over Our Martyrdom

The Khalsa belongs to Waheguru!

To Waheguru belongs victory!

Let me share something with you that happened today: in the afternoon I was reciting Gurbani from my Gutka Sahib when a loud voice bellowed from the guard room, “Sardar ji, Sat Sri Akal!” Then they called me by name. Brother Sukhdev had fallen asleep whilst lying down and reciting Gurbani. I headed towards the guard-room and there before me stood the D.S.P. (S.S.P. of the jail) and the I.G. of the CBI. The D.S.P. laughed and said, “Jinda ji, your face is glowing more and more as the days pass!” I replied, “This is due to the grace of the Guru; wait until the day of execution – it will be glowing the brightest yet!” The I.G. of the CBI had met me previously, when I was in the Nashik Central Jail. I asked him how he had come out to meet me here. He replied that he wanted to come and see me to ask how I was. We talked for some time, before brother Sukha joined us. The I.G. commented that we were very brave, being so near to our death yet showing no sign of fear, moreover our faces looked radiant. I laughed and said that on the one hand you term us terrorists and traitors, yet today you call us brave! The I.G. replied saying that he acknowledged we too had a cause for which we are now facing death with delight; that they might term us any number of labels, but that could not take away from us being lions. Before leaving he embraced us with great warmth and feeling, saying that he would pray for us. I told him not to do so – to make prayer for the betterment of the whole world instead. We talked about many things during the conversation, alas I could not write down any of it to share as we don’t have enough paper.

Dearest father and mother, the grace of the Guru is upon your sons. Today, even death stands in fear of your sons! We feel a strange sense of serenity and happiness at present and consider ourselves very fortunate having been graced with so much by the Guru. Dear mother, when I think of you, I feel a great sense of pride that I was born to a divine soul such as you, and thanks to whose teaching I have reached my destination today. It is my supplication that in every lifetime to come may I be reborn as your son. Dearest mother and father, stay in high spirits always and contemplate the Divine name with every breath. I feel great pride thinking of our wider family. There are two days left until our execution and I not yet know if you will reach here at Pune in time or not. It seems that there will only be opportunity to meet on the final day. It is of no consequence, the Almighty has given us plenty of meetings, it matters little if we meet again or not. May all of our family, relatives and towns-people stay in high spirits and remain contemplating the Divine name always. Brother Sukhdev is also writing a letter currently. There is light rain here, the weather is quite fine. Now let me share a funny happening: a day or two ago, the jail guard came and asked us in hushed tones what our final wish might be? I laughed and replied to him that the Superintendent be hung in my place! He roared with laughter! I regaled two funny stories to the I.G. too; this anecdote about the Superintendent and a second one. The second one was: a man waiting execution is asked what his final wish is? He replies that he wants to eat a watermelon. When they reply that it is not the season for watermelons, the prisoner says not to worry, that he can wait until then!
