Case of Bibi Jaswinder Kaur

 

In 1994, Bibi Jaswinder Kaur a University Graduate and an orphan took the Minister of Excise and Taxation of the Punjab State Government, Shamsher Doolo to court and won. Bibi Jaswinder Kaur had applied for a professional vacancy in Shamsher Doolo’s company which was given to a relative of his, due to which Bibi Jaswinder Kaur took him to court.

 

In retaliation to her legal action, Bibi Jaswinder Kaur was arrested by the Punjab police and brutally tortured. She believes that Shamsher Doolo is responsible for the ill treatment of the police and no FIR has been written against him, even when Bibi Jaswinder Kaur has tried on many occasions.

 

Bibi Jaswinder Kaur fears for life and lives in hiding, regularly moving house to house and family to family.
