To break the handcuffs of slavery from the wrists of the Sikh nation, many Sikhs attained shaheedi. Some people say that only the uneducated Sikhs supported the Sikh Freedom Movement, but those people forget that there is no education like the education of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. People who call our Shaheeds uneducated, are the least educated. To educate such people, we write these great jeevanis of Sikh shaheeds. After reading such biographies of our fallen soldiers, Sikh historians and some of our panthic preachers were left shocked. Biography of Shaheed Bhai Jagdeep Singh Vakeel Moga is something like that.

Bhai Jagdeep Singh Vakeel Moga was born from the womb of Mata Jagir Kaur and in the house of Sardar Bikar Singh in the village of Rupay Ka Aguarh (Old Moga), on 27th June 1962. Bhai Sahib had an elder sister, Bibi Charanjit Singh and a younger brother, Bhai Gurmeet Singh. Bhai Sahib studied up till 10th class at Bhupindra Khalsa Higher School of Moga. In 1978, Bhai Sahib passed his 10th class and in 1981, Bhai Sahib got a diploma from National Engineering College of Ludhiana. To finally graduate, Bhai Sahib went the Punjab University of Chandigarh.

Bhai Sahib was married to Bibi Virpal Kaur daughter of Sardar Harbans Singh of village Khare, district Faridkot in February 1982. By now following the orders of the government of Delhi, the Narakhdharis had brutally killed 13 singhs in 1978 and the leader of the Narakhdhari cult Gurbachana had become the target of the Sikh nation. To bring Gurbachana to justice, many singhs started planning his punishment. Bhai Sahib had a son, Bhai Lovepreet Singh and a younger daughter, Bibi Ravinder Singh. Bhai Sahib wanted to fulfil the responsibility as a Sikh of the Sikh nation, instead of the responsibility as senior member of the family. Bhai Sahib came in contact with, Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukrana, Bhai Amar Singh Mann Kishanpura and group. Bhai Sahib secretly started doing actions while staying at home. Whenever a singh attained shaheedi, Bhai Sahib got upset and emotional, Bhai Sahib would say, "How comes this singh attained shaheedi before me".

In 1989 the police found out about the Khadku actions of Bhai Sahib, but before the police could get to Bhai Sahib, he went underground. Now that Bhai Sahib was underground, he started doing bigger actions, Bhai Sahib was called the right arm of Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala. Bhai Sahib would investigate each action and situation, due to this Bhai Sahib was named Vakeel amongst the Khadku Singhs. The police had bought a tornado of harassment on to Bhai Sahib's family. The police regularly harassed Bhai Sahib's family, including his wife, Bibi Virpal Kaur, but Bhai Sahib did not stop doing the sewa for the Sikh nation. When Bhai Sahib set Bibi Virpal Kaur, while being underground, they were the words straight from the heart of a Khadku Singh to his family.

It is said that to some of the actions that Khadku Singh did, one had to be heartless to carry out such missions, but this is completely wrong, in fact Khadku Singhs were some of the softest singhs with a warm heart. For example the assassin of Indira Gandhi, Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh was such a loving person, whenever Bhai Beant Singh's children were ill, he would become sentimental and maybe this was the reason, when he heard of thousands of innocent Sikh children killed on orders of Indira Gandhi, Bhai Beant Singh along with Bhai Satwant Singh killed Indira Gandhi. Also one more general of the Sikh Freedom Movement, Shaheed Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal was also a man with a soft and a warm heart. The locals of his village till today talk about Baba Manochahal's love for the people. Whenever an innocent person was killed, Baba Manochahal would not eat. We also heard, when Baba Manochahal came home to see his family at night, he would pick up his sleeping children and just look at them. Baba Manochahal got emotional when he met his children.

While being underground Bhai Sahib met his family only twice. First time they met was Gurudwara Nanaksar in Jagraon, at this time Bhai Lovepreet Singh was only 6 years old. Bhai Sahib told his Bhujangi to get him a glass of water from the water langar. Bhujangi Lovepreet would walk on his little feet and get his father the glass of water. Bhai Sahib would drink a bit of the water and then secretly spill rest of it so Bhujangi Lovepreet would not see. Then Bhai Sahib would ask his Bhujangi again to get glass of water and Bhujangi Lovepreet brought his father water again. This happened about 3 times and Bibi Virpal Kaur, wife of Bhai Sahib said, "You're not drinking the water, so why do you keep on sending Lovepreet to get water?" Bhai Sahib answered, "I love seeing the walking style of my son. Let me satisfy myself seeing my son, I don't know if I'll get the chance again".

The second time Bhai Sahib met his family was soon after the first time. Bhai Sahib and some armed singhs came to the family house at night time. After sitting for a while, Bhai Sahib gave his love to his children and said, "Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh" to his wife and left. This was the last time Bhai Sahib met his family.

20th November 1990, armed Bhai Sahib and one more singh were travelling in a Maruti car, all of a sudden singhs had an accident. Bhai Sahib and the singh managed to get out of the car. Bhai Sahib flagged a bus that was going to Chandigarh and boarded the bus. In the bus there was off duty police officer who was carrying his service pistol. The off duty police officer fired at the singhs as they boarded the bus. Bhai Sahib was shot and in return fire from singhs the police officer was also shot. Bhai Sahib knew that the police will soon surround the bus and told his fellow singh to escape. After Bhai Sahib did his last ardas and attained shaheedi on the bus. Soon the police came and took the shaheedi saroop of Bhai Sahib, and to identify Bhai Sahib, Bibi Virpal Kaur along with Bhai Sahib's 5 year old daughter, Bibi Ravinder Kaur were bought to the police station to confirm Bhai Sahib's identity. Bibi Virpal Kaur identified her husband, but Bhai Sahib's daughter, Bibi Ravinder Kaur thought her father was sleeping and started towards him to wake him up. The police grabbed the little girl, stooping her from going to her father. Bibi Ravinder Kaur cried to go see her father but the cruel police did not allow the 5 year old girl to see her father for the last time. Soon the police cremated Bhai Sahib themselves.

The police announced that by killing Bhai Sahib, they have cut off the right arm of Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala. The letter Bhai Sahib wrote to his wife, would make Bibi Virpal Kaur realise her responsibilities as a wife of a Khadku Singh and also as the mother of Bhai Sahib's children.

Letter to Bibi Virpal Kaur
Satguru Parshad
Jau tau prem khelan ka chao. Sir dhar tali gali mori aao.
If you wish to play the game of love, come my way, with your head on the palm of your hand.

The path I have taken, I know its final destination. On this path, I might not see the freedom of Sikhs, but I will give my life for the Sikh nation to see and feel its freedom. On one side a man is married to another women and promises to be faithful till death. On the other side a man is married to freedom and promises not to rest until freedom is attained. I married you and bought you into my life and since I have been true to you. Where I stand today, I have to leave you behind and this is not because I am not faithful to you. In front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, I promised to stay with you for rest of my life but the same Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has ordered me to come on to the path I today travel.

You also should not be upset. I expect you to give me courage to carry on, on the path I am following. I hope you will go with the teachings of Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji and won't give up on me. Due to the cruel government, I am having to break all my worldly relationships, but what I'm doing for the Sikh nation is bigger than any relationship of this world, as it has been proven in history.

I know due to me taking the path, you and my children will face many struggles but I see the wives and children of innocent Sikhs that were killed by the Indian government, those families are in worse situation than you. I took this path for their hope of a better life.

You have been a great wife to me in the time we spent together and I hope in the future you will carry on like this. Even if there is a big or a small problem, you must keep strong. I can't see you being weak, nor can my soul see you weak, that will not be my happiness. For this reason I hope you will be happy and also keep the children happy. At least the children have you, there are children whose both parents were killed by the Indian government and today they have no one, but still they become good human beings when they grow up. I'm sure you will make our both children into good human beings and they will follow the path of truth.

When your emotional, no one can give us courage like Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Recite Gurbani, get the children to recite Gurbani as well. Cure for every worldly sadness is in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. All of my dharmik books are kept in my closet at home, take them all and when your free read them, this will harden your heart. Don't cry on front of children, make the children strong thinkers.

Now that we have given our lives to the panth, the least I expect is to have my family in Sikhi saroop. Don't ever do anything that will make my head go down, because our Gurus have taught us to stand tall with our heads up high. I hope you will never bring my head down.no matter how many bad days come, accept them as the will of Waheguru.

I know you may have financial problems, you can sell the jewellery or the car, but don't beg no one and don't let the weight of the stress come on the shoulders of the children. Do Ardas in front of Akaalpurakh to take all your worries and stress away. Don't go to any Babas or Peers, because I know no one can help us in this world but Waheguru.

When two countries battle for no real reason, the soldiers who are average people like ourselves are willing to give their lives to feed their families. The battle only benefits the greedy and selfish leaders. The soldiers on the frontline are sent by their families to fight a greedy man's fight, but we Sikhs on the other hand are fighting for a real reason and you should be proud of me as I'm on the frontline of this battle, the battle that Sikhs fight for their freedom.

Death is guaranteed to everyone, some eat more and die, some eat less and still die. Living in wealth and eating good is not what life is about. I agree we, the Khadku Singhs may live some years less than other people, but I won't die as a slave, instead I will die as a free man. The generation to come will never call me traitor. Life of slavery is like a sip of poison. My death will be a nectar of Amrit. I might not be here but the panth will never forget me. I might not be with you physically but I'll be around not just my Family but also the Singh panth. To see you breath in freedom is my eternal happiness. I'm the dust of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who sacrificed his family for us.

I haven't abandoned you, you and the children are always in front of my eyes and deep inside my heart. In our history, Sikh warriors have left their families in order to protect them. In this world many people talk rubbish, don't let them get to you. Our destiny is written and can't change. That's why don't focus on the negative things. Sikhi is given to us, live in Sikhi fearlessly and always thank god for giving us Sikhi. Don't fall into the traps of negative people or my soul will forever be sad.

Servant of the panth
